One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. The scale of the issue is confronting — but it is not insurmountable.
This year, I am participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise funds for the St Vincent de Paul Society, supporting Australians facing homelessness and hardship. For one night, I will sleep outside — not as a symbolic gesture, but as a reminder of the daily reality too many in our community endure.
Homelessness is complex. It intersects with domestic violence, mental health, addiction, and economic hardship. Breaking the cycle requires coordinated support, funding, and community leadership.
Helping people stay safe is the primary driver for me personally and for Gatekeeper Systems. Whether that is protecting retail teams from violence, safeguarding communities, or supporting those most vulnerable — safety and dignity matter.

Hi Nick, I was really moved by your love of people hurting on the streets with no permanent home and shelter and your decision to do something about it including raising money for them and sleeping under cardboards for a night in the middle of Australian winter. Homelessness is also a problem in the United States.
