Demand for assistance in NSW continues to rise, with more people facing homelessness and disadvantage than ever before. Funds raised through the Vinnies CEO Sleepout ensure Vinnies can continue making a meaningful impact across the state through the vital services we provide.

In 2025, the Vinnies CEO Sleepout raised $2,831,360, thanks to the generosity and commitment of leaders across NSW.

Your fundraising helps sustain a range of essential services. It supports homelessness services by funding the wages of staff including caseworkers, support workers, centre coordinators, and activities coordinators, who assist single people, parents, and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

These services provide crisis accommodation, transitional housing, meals, case support, counselling, healthcare, vocational training, and ongoing assistance to maintain tenancy. Funds also support the Vinnies Vans program, a nightly mobile outreach service across metro and regional NSW, delivering essential items, companionship, and connections to housing, health, and welfare services, acting as a gateway to Vinnies’ wider support network.

In addition, your contributions help fund Vinnies Assist, a statewide Early Intervention program providing information and referral pathways to people in crisis, as well as the Matthew Talbot Hostel Health Clinic, which provides medical supplies and wages for nurses. The clinic cares for around 80 people each day, addressing the links between poor health, mental health, and homelessness, and works closely with case managers and hostel staff to deliver genuine, person-centred wraparound support.

Vinnies Night Patrol – Continuing a Lifeline

Your support ensures we can continue delivering our Vinnies Night Patrol service to people experiencing homelessness and hardship on Canberra’s streets. Each year, Vinnies Night Patrol provides more than 13,000 free meals and thousands of meaningful contacts. With your help, we are keeping this vital service running nightly, offering food, connection, and care.

Vinnies Street to Home and Specialist Homelessness Services

Funds raised through the Vinnies CEO Sleepout enable our specialist homelessness programs to offer practical support—like mobile phones with credit for rough sleepers. This helps us stay in touch and provide the hand up they need to access housing, health services, and community support.

Emergency Assistance Across the ACT & Surrounds

Your participation helps us provide emergency relief to individuals and families at risk of homelessness. This includes material aid, food, and financial support to prevent eviction, delivered through our case workers and Conference members. In 2024-2025, your support helped answer over 19,000 calls to the Vinnies Emergency Helpline.

Building Futures Beyond Homelessness in Queensland

The CEO Sleepout in Queensland did more than break fundraising records in 2025 – it also helped break ground on the first of 500 Homes for Queenslanders in need.

A total of $1,816,266 was raised through the Brisbane & Sunshine Coast Sleepout events, a record breaking year for Brisbane.

A total of $2,555,868.52 was raised by 576 supporters across Brisbane, Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast which will go towards building 500 homes.

“The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is vital – not just for the funds it raises, but for engaging and educating community leaders about homelessness,” said CEO Kevin Mercer.

All funds raised directly support Vinnies Queensland’s 500 Homes project, the largest community housing initiative in the Society’s 131-year history. 147 homes are now under construction, with the first 60 breaking ground in Nerang on the Gold Coast in June 2025. Future residents will receive wrap-around support to maintain stability in all aspects of life. Land has also been acquired for two additional sites: 18 homes in Maryborough and 50 homes in Ipswich, expanding the project pipeline to 630 homes.

Funds from the 2025 CEO Sleepout are crucial in delivering the 500 Homes program and creating long-term change for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Queensland.

Across Queensland in the 2024-25 financial year, our Society:

Provided 163,000 nights of accommodation
Supported 1,299 Queenslanders experiencing homelessness to secure sustainable housing

Turning One Night of Sacrifice into Years of Support

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout has now raised more than $5.1 million on the Gold Coast, funds that are already being put to work to tackle the housing crisis head-on.

In recent years, this has included converting an Arundel administration building into secure accommodation for mature age women, purchasing land in Nerang, and laying the groundwork for future housing projects.

One of the most exciting developments is our commitment to deliver 500 homes across Queensland, creating long-term housing solutions where they’re needed most. The first 60 units are now underway here on the Gold Coast in Nerang, where ground has officially been broken and construction is in progress. These units will include a mix of 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, designed to provide both social and affordable housing options.

“Thanks to the on going commitment from Gold Coast business and community leaders who support the CEO Sleepout, we’ve been able to fundraise and advocate for more support for families and individuals facing homelessness,” said Kris Martin, Vinnies Gold Coast Executive Officer.

In 2023, the Gold Coast was named the region with the second-highest level of housing stress in Queensland, with 1 in 10 households spending over 30% of their income on rent. Over the past 12 months alone, Vinnies has seen a 13% increase in locals seeking help.?The most recent Sleepout raised an incredible $740,000, our biggest result yet! Proving that community leadership can directly drive real, lasting change. These funds will help secure land for new housing developments, strengthen frontline services, and expand our impact right here on the Gold Coast.

Where Vinnies SA Will Help In 2025-2026 With a Total Of $696,772 Raised In South Australia

Vinnies SA is working to meet the growing demand for support services across South Australia. The funds raised from the Vinnies CEO Sleepout are channelled towards each of Vinnies SA’s homelessness support services.

Over 55,000 instances of support and over 22,000 visits in the last financial year, our team is working towards the delivery of even greater support in the year ahead. This will continue to support and positively impact people who can’t afford the basics by providing emergency financial aid, food, clothing, petrol, rent and bills support and other material aid.

Our network of over 2500 dedicated Vinnies Volunteers reaches out to people in every corner of the State to support people who are at risk of homelessness & experiencing financial hardship.

This assistance is provided to people seeking help via our assistance program, our Fred’s Van meal service, guests who are exiting Crisis Accommodation and other referring services, such as connecting people to the relevant health, wellbeing and financial services to facilitate the return into society with independence.

Thanks to the commitment of Victorian business and community leaders, the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout raised $1,453,565 to support those facing homelessness and food insecurity across the state.

All funds raised will go directly towards strengthening the Vinnies Victoria Soup Vans program; an essential frontline service that supported over 222,342 people in the last FY.

Demand for soup vans has continued to rise dramatically over the past 12 months, ?with increases of 65% in Melton, 50% in Berwick, and 35% across the Southeast.

This year's funds will be attributed directly towards:

The establishment of a brand-new Soup Van hub in Hallam
Provision of meals and support for ongoing fleet maintenance
Upgrades to the depreciated Soup Van fleet with the purchase of at least two new vehicles in the next financial year

The 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout raised a total of $83,858.47 in the Northern Territory. These funds support our programs and services from Darwin to Alice Springs, helping our teams to meet the needs of people experiencing hardship in our community.

Vouchers for clothes, food, fuel and grocery items, bus tickets, assistance, with Telstra and utility bills, assistance with the cost of prescription medication, referrals to short term or emergency accommodation, and household items, furniture and whitegoods.

A safe place to call your own, plus Vinnies purchases essentials for new residents and they take these items with them when they move on to permanent housing. Essentials like: bed, linen and pillow, fridge, cupboard, desk and chair.

Vinnies WA operates two Passages Youth Engagement Hubs, one in the Perth CBD and another in Mandurah, which services the Peel region. As a joint venture between Vinnies WA and the Rotary Club of Perth, Passages was established to address growing youth homelessness by providing a unique specialist engagement service. Our Hubs are staffed by highly skilled and experienced youth workers who create a safe and welcoming environment where young people can build confidence, self-esteem, and independence. They offer a friendly, non-judgemental space to access support and referrals for marginalised and at-risk young people aged 12 to 25.

A significant portion of the funds raised at this year’s CEO Sleepout will be directed to the Passages Youth Engagement Hubs to reinstate the Compass Outreach Program. This program, which initially ran from October 2022 to January 2024, ceased when the pilot funding ended. In its original run, the program achieved strong outcomes for the young people it supported, with most securing more stable housing and many achieving their employment or work experience goals. Reintroducing a program like Compass is vital in providing consistent, targeted outreach to young people who are?disconnected from education, employment, or safe housing. It helps break cycles of homelessness by offering practical support, building life skills, and linking participants to opportunities that foster long-term stability. Beyond immediate assistance, Compass can empower young people to take control of their future, strengthen community connections, and reduce their risk of ongoing disadvantage.

The remaining funds will support our Emergency Assistance and Support Program; a cornerstone of Vinnies’ mission and the heart of our grassroots work in the community. Every day, our volunteer members respond to calls for help from people facing financial crisis, isolation, or unexpected hardship. Through this program, we provide not just essential items like food, clothing, and household goods, but also the compassion, dignity, and hope that come from knowing someone cares. Whether through a home visit or a warm welcome at a support centre, these moments of connection can be life-changing, offering people the stability they need to get back on their feet and the confidence to move forward.

The funds raised through the 2025 CEO Sleepout are making a real difference to the lives of Tasmanians experiencing homelessness and poverty right across the state.

Vinnies' fleet of mobile food vans supports over 20,000 individuals across Tasmania each year, delivering not only food and drinks but also vital compassion, connection, and pathways to additional assistance.

These funds help keep our Vinnies services, including Louie’s Van in Hobart and Vinnies Vans in Launceston and on the NW Coast, on the road. These vans have long been a familiar and trusted presence in their communities, offering more than just a meal – ?they provide warmth, conversation, and a vital human connection to people who may otherwise feel invisible. For many, the vans are a first step to accessing broader support and pathways to stability.

The funds also enable Vinnies to respond to the growing number of Tasmanians reaching out for help as the rising cost of living pushes more families into crisis. From crisis accommodation and emergency relief through to practical assistance like food, fuel, rental support, utilities, and wellbeing needs, this generosity ensures Vinnies can?continue to walk alongside people during their toughest times.

Importantly, this impact is statewide, supporting communities in Hobart, Launceston, and regional areas where the demand for help has never been greater. Every dollar raised through the CEO Sleepout ensures that Vinnies can continue to offer not just immediate relief, but also dignity, hope, and a path forward for Tasmanians doing it tough.??
