One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference
This year, I am proud to be taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
As a US Navy veteran now living in Perth, Western Australia, I have been incredibly blessed since separating from service. I have worked hard, but I also know that many of the opportunities I have had in life came because others took the time to support, mentor, guide, and believe in me.
That is why I feel strongly about paying that kindness forward.
Over the years, I have been actively involved in supporting and mentoring veterans here in Australia and in the United States, including through RSL WA and VESPIIA. Through that work, I have seen firsthand the challenges faced by veterans, their families, emergency services personnel, and members of the broader community who are doing it tough.
Homelessness is complex. Veteran homelessness is particularly close to my heart. No one who has served, or anyone in our community, should feel forgotten, unsupported, or without hope.
This year, I have decided to step up and do my small part.
I will be sleeping out to raise awareness and funds to support people experiencing homelessness - veterans, families, and the broader community.
To my friends, colleagues, and network: I would be deeply grateful for your support. Whether through a donation, sharing this post, or simply helping raise awareness, every bit makes a difference.
Thank you in advance for standing with me and supporting this worthy cause.
Together, we can help provide dignity, care, and hope to those who need it most.
