Over the many years of working as a psychologist, I’ve met people who experienced homelessness at some point in their lives.
Even after rebuilding themselves, the impact often stayed with them — the fear, uncertainty, shame and trauma lingering long after they found shelter again.
No one chooses homelessness. It can happen to anyone. A relationship breakdown, illness, job loss, family violence, mental health struggles — and suddenly life looks very different.
For one night, I’ll sleep out in the cold as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. It will never compare to the reality so many face daily, but I hope it serves as a reminder of how deeply homelessness affects a person’s sense of safety, dignity and wellbeing.
Any donation you make will make a difference. Donate generously. Every dollar helps provide support, safety and hope to people doing it tough.
