One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference
This year I’m taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to help
raise funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness in
Frankston City.
On any given night, around 50 people are sleeping rough across Frankston City—on our streets, in parks and along our foreshore. Many more are experiencing hidden homelessness, staying on couches, living in cars, or in crisis accommodation, rooming houses or overcrowded housing.
For one night, I’ll be sleeping outside. While this can’t replicate the reality of homelessness, it’s a small way to stand in solidarity and raise awareness of the challenges faced by too many people in our community every day.
Homelessness is complex and affects individuals, families and the broader community. Addressing it requires sustained, collective action. By taking part in the Sleepout, I hope to raise funds for much-needed housing and support services, while also highlighting the need for all levels of government to work together to ensure people have access to safe, secure, and affordable housing.
