Donate to help end homelessness in Australia
This year I'm taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. For one night, I'll be sleeping in the yard of the old Fannie Bay Gaol as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.
The rate of homelessness in the Northern Territory, where I live and work, is over 12 times the national average. That means that almost 60 in every 1000 people experience homelessness at any given time, including children. Homelessness disproportionally affects Aboriginal people, leading to further dispossession and negative life outcomes. As a community, it is our role to band together in support of those affected by homelessness.
