Participating in their 1st Vinnies CEO Sleepout
One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. This year for our first time Austin and I will be taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. On June 18th, we'll spend a winter's night sleeping in our tiny Toyota Yaris parked on the streets of Sydney. This will be an eye-opening experience to raise awareness of the harsh realities some face of not having a safe and secure bed for the night.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout isn't intended to be a real experience of homelessness, but a way of encouraging empathy and awareness, while raising money for vital support services. More than 116,000 Australians experience homelessness, and of these, around 8,200 people are 'sleeping rough' in improvised dwellings, tents or outdoors.
To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, we need your support. Last year funds raised in NSW helped to support a wide range of services including crisis accommodation, counselling and meal service provision https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/where-your-money-goes
Feel free to support us if you want to contribute to this great cause! Donations are tax deductible.
