The gap between “being okay” and homelessness is far smaller than most people realise.
Homelessness is something that sits very close to my heart.
The truth is, the gap between “being okay” and homelessness is far smaller
than most people realise.
It’s not always what people picture.
It can be a job loss.
A relationship breakdown.
A woman making the brave decision to leave domestic violence.
A family simply unable to find an affordable rental in a market that feels
impossible.
And suddenly… there is no home.
It can happen to anyone.
We need to change the stereotype of what homelessness looks like, because more often than not, it doesn’t look like what people expect.
This June, I’ll be taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
Here on the Gold Coast, the funds raised don’t disappear into the distance, they stay local. They go directly into supporting people in our own community with food, crisis accommodation, and pathways back into stable housing.
For one night, I’ll be sleeping out to raise awareness and funds…
but for so many, this isn’t one night. It’s every night.
If you feel in a position to support, even in a small way, it would mean more than you know. My goal is to raise $3000.
Together, we can be part of changing someone’s story.
