I'm fundraising for the young people that shouldn't be on the street
Young people who have been in out of home care have a high risk of homelessness, particularly where transition support has not been provided. It doesn't have to be that way and this is unacceptable.
While systemic change is required, organisations like the St Vincent de Paul Society provide support to these Australians in need.
For one night, I'll be sleeping outside to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness and raise funding for homelessness services. This is by no means the equivalent of the hundreds of thousands of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness - it will be in secure location and it is for only one night.
But it is also providing much needed funds to homelessness services, which in this current cost of living crisis, are needed more than ever.
