One night won’t solve homelessness, but it can help change a life
Every night, thousands of Australians are without a safe place to sleep. Homelessness is complex, but it is not inevitable and it should never be normal.
This year, I’m taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Brisbane to raise funds for the St Vincent de Paul Society and to stand alongside the people and communities working to break the cycle of homelessness. For one night, I’ll sleep outdoors as a small but confronting reminder that a safe home is something too many people are going without.
Over time, I’ve become more convinced of this: as our careers grow, so does our capacity to contribute. When you’re in a position to help, you should. Not in a performative way, and not because you have to, but because the opportunity to make a difference is part of what leadership is.
As a mum, that’s become even more important. I want my kids to see that giving back isn’t something you do “one day” when life is quiet, it’s something you choose in the ways that fit your season and your circumstances. This is one of those ways for me right now.
If you’re able, I’d be grateful for your support to help me reach my fundraising target. A donation of $100 can make a meaningful difference to people who need it most, helping Vinnies provide practical support, safety, and pathways back to stability.
Thank you for standing with me and with Australians who deserve security, dignity and hope.
