Partnering for Impact - reducing homelessness in Queensland

The latest ABS data released in March this year shows that homelessness has increased in Queensland by 14% in the 5 years from 2011.

Those figures highlight the need for government to work with the housing and homelessness sector to achieve real outcomes for people experiencing homelessness, so as the Queensland Minister for Housing and Public Works, I recently announced the Palaszczuk Government's Partnering for Impact - reducing homelessness in Queensland initiative.

Partnering for Impact delivers on key principles of the Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027 with respect to seamless service delivery, a collaborative approach and person-centred responses in homelessness.

The initiative will see the Palaszczuk Government collaborate with the sector to generate innovation and revitalise Queensland's response to homelessness. A key action of the initiative is establishing a Queensland Homelessness Compact.

The Compact will provide the framework to enable a broader discussion on both service delivery and workforce conditions including skills and training, job security and pay in the homelessness sector.

Its our decisions as leaders that make all the difference.

I'm not sleeping out again this year because it sounds like fun to hang out in a sleeping bag with CEOs.

I'm sleeping out because your donations and our decisions, can make all the difference to our homeless friends.
