One night in the cold to help end homelessness - inspired by the true story behind my film Charlie
In 2011, at my first Vinnies CEO Sleepout, I heard the story of Terry - a man living on the streets of Brisbane whose life changed through one act of compassion. That story stayed with me for over a decade and eventually inspired my short film, Charlie.
This year, Charlie was screened at the Brisbane CEO Sleepout at The Gabba, and the response was incredible. Many told me it made them see homelessness in a new light - not as an abstract issue, but as a deeply human story.
On June 20, I’ll be joining other business and community leaders in sleeping out again. One night in the cold is nothing compared to what more than 47,000 Queenslanders face every night without a safe place to call home.
Vinnies Queensland doesn’t just provide emergency shelter, they’re building real solutions, like their 500 Homes project, which has already secured 147 homes for people in need.
Your donation will help fund housing, meals, and vital support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
If Charlie moved you, or if you believe everyone deserves dignity and safety, please donate. Together, we can be part of the change.
