One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference

Most people walk past it every day.

Someone sleeping rough.
Someone asking for change.
Someone sitting there with everything they own in a bag.

It’s easy to look away.
It’s uncomfortable.
It doesn’t feel like your problem.

But I’ve been there.

Not “doing it tough”…
Not “in between places”…
Actually homeless.

Waking up not knowing where you’re going that night.
Trying to stay clean, stay presentable, stay human… while everything around you is falling apart.
Carrying your life with you, because you have no safe place to leave it.

You feel invisible.
And at the same time… completely exposed.

People judge you without knowing a single thing about how you got there.
And the longer you’re in it, the harder it becomes to get out.

That’s why things like the CEO Sleepout matter.

Because for one night, people choose to feel a fraction of that discomfort —
and more importantly, raise awareness and support for those who don’t get to opt out the next morning.

This isn’t about business.
It’s about people.

If you’ve never experienced it, don’t assume it could never happen to you.
And if you’re in a position to help — even in a small way — do it.

Because for too many Australians…
this is still their reality every single night.
