One night isn’t homelessness. It’s just a glimpse.
This year I’m taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout here in Wollongong.
I’ll be sleeping outside for one night. No bed. No comfort. No safety net.
And the truth is… I get to go home the next morning.
Thousands of Australians don’t.
They don’t know where they’ll sleep tomorrow. Or next week. Or how they’re going to keep their kids safe, warm, and fed.
And it’s not who you think.
It’s mums. It’s kids. It’s people who had normal lives until something went wrong. A breakup. Financial stress. Domestic violence. One moment that tipped everything.
I know how quickly life can change. I’ve lived through hard seasons. I know what it feels like when things aren’t stable, when you’re just trying to hold it together.
That’s why this matters to me.
I’m not doing this for attention. I’m doing it because ignoring this problem doesn’t sit right with me anymore.
The money raised goes to the St Vincent de Paul Society, helping provide real support. Not just a meal, but a chance for someone to feel human again. A safe place. A way forward.
If you’re in a position to give, even a little… please do.
Because while I’ll get one uncomfortable night…someone else is facing another one tonight.
And the night after that.
