One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference
As many of you will know, I was a CEO Sleepout Ambassador for many years and it has been incredibly validating to move behind the curtain and discover that, yes, Vinnies SA really is everything I believed it was.
We’re not trying to replicate homelessness with this night because that is not possible. What we are doing is raising awareness, funds and working to build empathy and understanding that will lead to change.
So while we’re not experiencing real homelessness, we are making real change. What does that change look like? Well to measure that, we need to look at impact stats and stories.
Here are the stats:
· More than 22,000 visits to people supported by our Vinnies SA Companions, offering care, dignity and connection
· Safe accommodation at the Vinnies Women’s Crisis Centre for 369 women, 307 children and 115 pets
· Support for 290 men at the Vinnies Men’s Crisis Centre
· Assistance for 265 people through our Open Door Program, helping individuals transition toward stability and independence
· Almost 40,000 meals provided through Fred’s Van to almost 30,000 men, more than 9,000 women and nearly 2,000 children
Any donation amount you can make to support this vital work is appreciated.
