From Separation to Survival: Why Catherine Is Sleeping Out for Women at Risk

Catherine is a dedicated family law professional and advocate, committed to supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging transitions. Through her work, she has seen firsthand the hidden realities that can follow separation, particularly for women who may have had limited access to finances, stepped away from their careers to raise children, or suddenly find themselves navigating housing insecurity for the first time.

She is especially passionate about raising awareness of the growing number of mid-life women experiencing homelessness, and the profound ripple effect this has on their children and broader communities.

Catherine’s decision to take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout is deeply personal. A recent moment with her young son, who instinctively stopped to offer food to a man experiencing homelessness, reinforced her belief in the power of small acts of kindness, and the importance of seeing and supporting those in need.

By sleeping out, Catherine hopes to raise both funds and awareness for the St Vincent de Paul Society, and to shine a light on the very real and often overlooked pathways into homelessness, particularly for women and children following separation.

She believes that meaningful change starts with awareness, but is driven by action, compassion, and community.
