Greater Brisbane In Person Event
The Gabba Brisbane
Download Welcome Pack
Starting at 5:00pm, you’ll arrive and be joined by many special people – who are all looking to make a change to the critical homeless situation that now faces Queenslanders. Every conversation is another opportunity to learn more about poverty and homelessness in Queensland.
Timings: Brisbane 5:00pm - 8:00am
What happens?
It’s a Sleepout – but you’ll do much more than sleep. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and make powerful connections with others who share the same desire for change.
While you can plan to dress warm and use your best sleeping bag, there’s no way to truly prepare for an evening like this. Just know there’s plenty of support on hand and a wonderful community of leaders ready to experience this with you. And if you feel unwell, we ask that you remain at home.
What to bring:
- Appropriate clothing, a pillow and a sleeping bag.
- Your electronic devices such as phone and tablets, fully charged to capture the experience
- Pack an extra power bank if you like
- A plastic drop sheet to shield your cardboard from the wet grass
What not to bring:
- Luxury bedding, blow-up mattress, yoga mat or any other camping materials.
- Your own food – you’ll be served a basic dinner and brekky.
- There’s water, tea and coffee available.
Pillows of Hope
For the first time this year, we will be offering our participants the chance to purchase Pillows of Hope. The limited number of specially designed pillows will be available for sale at the venue on the night.
The original artwork was created by Allan Mogerma, who stated: “Slept under the bridge last night. It was cold. Wallet is empty and my last $10 in the bank. Got a feed though, thanks to the angels in human form for their selfless services week in week out.”
Purchasing a Pillow of Hope for $100, would allow participants to add the funds to their own fundraising page as a self-donation.
Thank you to Tontine Pillows for sponsoring our Pillows of Hope program this year.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is for registered participants only. We do not allow entry to friends, family (including children), colleagues, or your pets. Alcohol is strictly off limits. Please note that participants must be over 18 years of age.
The health and safety of our volunteers, staff and participants is our first priority. If you have felt unwell in the previous days (sore throat, runny nose, fever, and/or headache), we ask that you do not physically attend the event and instead, tune into the live stream to participate virtually.
