I am raising awareness and funds to create housing solutions for people who are trapped in the criminal justice system
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. As a Youth and Social Worker, over the last 30 years I have worked in the justice and homelessness sectors focused on reducing the impacts of unnecessary incarceration. Prisons across Australia continue to release people everyday into unsafe housing with limited support. As the CEO of the Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO), I know what works and that is access is to long term housing with the right intensive wrap around supports. This year I'm taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need who are engaged with the criminal justice system. For one night, I'll be sleeping outside as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.
To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, I need your support. Will you help me to reach my target? Donating $100 can make a huge difference to people who need it most.
