Why I’m Sleeping Out This Winter
Every night, thousands of young people in Australia face homelessness. For LGBTQIA+ youth, the risk is more than double—often because home isn’t a safe place to be.
At Open Access College, where I spend my days, we support students learning in all kinds of circumstances. Some have joined classes from a car. Others have continued studying while living in temporary accommodation or navigating really tough times. No student should ever have to choose between safety and education.
This issue is close to my heart, both personally and professionally. That’s why I’m taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout this year. For one night, I’ll be sleeping outside to raise awareness—and raise funds to support those doing it tough every night of the year.
If you’re able to chip in, even a small donation can make a real difference. $100 can go a long way in helping someone get back on their feet. I’d love your support.
