One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. You would never imagine the stats to be as high as they are. But it doesn't have to be that way. This year I'm taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. For one night, I'll be sleeping outside on one of the coldest nights of the year in mid Winter, as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.
I will also be offering several free digital creative workshops for tweens, teens and adults who want to dabble in live generated animation and sound design. They get to convert their designs or drawings into real-time talking animated avatar characters, learning how to make animated films in real-time. Those that have creative or tech-curious kids might want to give them a new form of creative expression to talk about their ideas or feelings with. I will be offering this workshop as a 100% donation to the sleep Out cause, empowering kids and creating beds and homes.
