One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. This year I'm taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. For one night, I'll be sleeping outside as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.

This cause is deeply personal to me. A few years ago, I made the incredibly difficult to leave an abusive marriage. With my two beautiful children-then 4 and 9 years old-I found myself without a home, constantly moving, sleeping in my car at shopping centers, parks, on side streets to stay safe and out of sight. There were nights I stayed awake, watching over my children as they slept, terrified we might be found. I remember the weight of trying to stay strong while feeling completely broken inside. The fear, the uncertainty, and the isolation were overwhelming-but I knew I had to keep going for their sake. Those experiences have left a lasting mark on me. Thats why I feel so strongly about supporting efforts that raise awareness about homelessness. I hope that my small contribution can help make a meaningful difference for others who are still in the midst of the struggle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for what you are about to undertake.
