New South Wales 2024

The Physical Events

Sydney: White Bay Cruise Terminal - 2041 James Craig Road, Rozelle NSW 2039

Wollongong: Coniston Hub - 12-16 Miller Street, Coniston

Newcastle: Vinnies Social and Affordable Housing Complex (SAHF) - Rendu Apartments, 7 Sturt Road, Cardiff

What time does it start?

Starting at 5:00pm, you’ll arrive and be joined by many special people – people who've lived through the harsh realities of homelessness and poverty, as well as volunteers and support staff. Every conversation is another opportunity to learn more about poverty and homelessness in Australia.

What happens?

It’s a Sleepout – but you’ll do much more than sleep. There are a bunch of talks to listen to and be part of. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and make powerful connections with others who share the same desire for change.

While you can plan to dress warm and use your best sleeping bag, there’s no way to truly prepare for an evening like this. Just know there’s plenty of support on hand and a wonderful community of leaders ready to experience this with you. And if you feel unwell, we ask that you remain at home.

What to bring:

  • Appropriate clothing, a pillow and a sleeping bag.
  • Your phone, tablet and camera (fully charged) to capture the experience.

What not to bring:

  • Luxury bedding, blow-up mattress, yoga mat or any other camping materials.
  • Your own food – you'll be served a basic dinner and brekky.
  • There’s water, tea and coffee available.

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is for registered participants only. We do not allow entry to friends, family (including children), colleagues, or your pets. Alcohol is strictly off limits.

For those joining us virtually

Participants outside of Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong will log onto the livestream and join us virtually from your sleeping location in either your car, your backyard or on your couch from 6pm.
