This will be the seventh time I’ve participated in the CEO Sleepout. Previous years’ Sleepouts have educated, motivated and inspired me to enter again this year, to help Vinnies continue the fabulous work they do for Brisbane’s homeless and marginalised.
Prior to my election as General Secretary of the Queensland Council of Unions last year – I was for many years Assistant Secretary of IEUA-QNT, a union of 17,000 members working in non-government schools, community kindergartens and other education institutions in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Australian Unions fight for social justice – not only wage justice and employment rights – that’s why I couldn’t pass up such a great opportunity to take this practical action to help Vinnies help fellow Queenslanders in need.
As mother of two little kids, I’ve also got a direct investment in doing whatever I can to help make our community a better, kinder and fairer place for us all – both right now and for the future.
Collectively, we can make a real and positive difference for Queenslanders in need.
