Clothing
It’s going to be cold. And maybe wet as well. Make sure you wear warm, casual clothes.
Bedding
Bring your own sleeping bag and a pillow. Cardboard will be provided for you to sleep on or build a shelter. No airbeds or luxury bedding items allowed!
Food
You can’t bring your own, sorry. A basic meal of soup, bread rolls, tea & coffee will be served on the night. Breakfast will also be provided in the morning. Alcohol is strictly off limits.
Weather
This is an experiential event which introduces you to what it’s really like to sleep rough. Regardless of the weather, the event will go ahead – so there are no excuses! An undercover area will be made available in the case of rain. If you are ill on the night of the event we ask that you not attend.
Parking
Try your luck with on-street parking, or use the Queens Garden car park on Nelson Crescent (24 hours). There is a fee for using this facility. If you do drive, please ensure that you have had adequate sleep to safely drive home/to work in the morning.
Transport
Public transport is available at the event. There is a free red cat bus which stops directly outside Gate 2 at the WACA. For other public transport options and timetables visit www.transperth.wa.gov.au or call 13 62 13.
Other
This is a serious event and we ask that you consider the following:
- Respectfully refrain from networking for personal or business gain at the event
- Endeavour to reach a target of $5,000 in support of the real benefactors of the event; the homeless
- Not inviting friends, family, colleagues or pets to attend with, or visit you at the event
- Electrical items such as mobile phones, cameras, video recorders etc are very welcome to capture your experience of the Sleepout. They’re also a great way to keep your family and friends involved with your progress on the night. We encourage Facebook updates, Twitter posts, and any other way you can get your contacts to make last minute donations to your involvement. Please be aware though, we discourage bringing valuables such as jewellery, other personal items etc.
