NT Sleepout
In the Northern Territory, Vinnies operates homeless services including hostels, drop in centres and programs.
We provide supported accommodation, approximately 56,500 bed nights of accommodation a year and place an emphasis on breaking personal cycles of poverty by helping people to learn to make better decisions through education and recreational programs.
The most common reasons for homelessness in the Northern Territory are lack of appropriate affordable housing, domestic and family violence and substance abuse.
Nearly half of Australia’s homeless are women and sadly, around thirty percent are children. The Ozanam House Centre in Stuart Park, the SOS Outreach Van and our Emergency Relief Program have experienced an increase in need this year, together we are providing assistance to up to 100 people a day.
